Removal and replacement of a Muffin Monster Grinder for a municipal client

O&M recently removed and replaced a Muffin Monster sewage grinder for one of our municipal clients located in NJ. The damaged grinder was the original equipment and there were no maintenance records to indicate a past replacement of any components. We identified significant pass-through of rags and fibrous materials causing reduced pumping efficiency in addition to multiple clogs of both pump station pumps at the site. Replacement was originally planned in a 5-year capital improvement plan, yet we deemed it necessary to make an immediate replacement. With Bayshore Community Hospital sitting just 2 miles upstream backups as a result of the clogged pumps are unacceptable. The new grinder is installed and this station is back to operational efficiency.
